The Festival Capital of the Rockies
Not every town gets to proclaim that they are the capital of something, but the festivals that we offer every year have become so exciting that Telluride has become known as the Festival Capital of the Rockies, and if your late spring journey brings you to our city limits (this festival is usually held the first weekend of June), the Telluride Balloon Festival will provide the perfect example. This weekend event is for the early risers, especially if a flight across the mountain terrain is on your bucket list, with flights lifting off starting at 6 AM. Even if you don’t fly, just being there to hear the whoosh of flames that help keep the ballon in flight, then watch the colorful balloons and their beautiful baskets lift off and then float gently through the sky, will speak to a part of your soul that you never knew existed.
Finding Your Joy
If you do, however, take this opportunity for a hot air balloon flight, we can promise it is like something you have never experienced before. The gentle liftoff, bringing you to the clouds, the views of the mountains, the trees, and the idyllic and picturesque town of Telluride, slowly appearing to grow smaller the higher your balloon reaches. As mentioned before, this is a two-day festival, one that takes place on the weekend, and whether you fly or just monitor the beauty of the festival from the ground, on Saturday night, the festival takes on a new ambience with Main Street Glow. There will be no flights at night, but the colorful and graceful balloons will light up the night from their anchored positions along Main Street, bringing happiness, serenity, and joy to all who view their stunning appearance. Lighting up the night from 6 PM to 10 PM, the pictures you take of this part of the festival will soon be gracing the walls of your own home sweet home; they add magic to any décor!
