Welcome, Procrastinators!
You may not know that there is an entire week in March devoted to celebrating procrastinators, but as many of us are bona fide members of the Procrastinators Club, we are proud to admit that we know and welcome every all other members every week of the year. We understand life gets in the way sometimes, and not only will we not judge you, but we also offer an incentive for choosing Accommodations in Telluride at for your last-minute vacation. Special deals can often be found on properties that have remained unrented because we figure, well why not? Some income is better than no income and we like our guests so you can consider this a little reward for your procrastinating troubles! Not every property will offer a special deal, but the ones that do will let you save a little money or buy more souvenirs.
When Only the Best Will Do
Just because you waited a little longer than most it doesn’t mean that you deserve to be punished with a subpar residence, something that often happens with hotels booked on late notice. Stuck in rooms that offer views of the building behind the hotel, where the ice machine rumbles all through the night, interrupting your sleep, it might feel like you are being punished, but at Accommodations in Telluride, we celebrate you and whatever delayed your planning, with every home offering the same level of style and luxury. It doesn’t matter to us that you made the decision to visit at the last possible second, it only matters that you feel welcomed and at home in the space you choose to make your own for the duration of your Colorado getaway. We don’t cut corners when it comes to your comfort and as such even our specials will feature every amenity offered in every other home we provide.

More Ways to Save
You are already saving money on our last-minute specials, but it might surprise you that Accommodations in Telluride can save you even more, simply by scrolling past the standard vacation rental websites and stopping by our page. Those other rental sites don’t just charge you for booking from their page, they charge us as well, so we thought why not pass on the savings to our guests when you book directly from us? Easy to find, you already discovered us once as you are reading this, Accommodations in Telluride’s site is also easy to navigate and the most difficult of the vacation rental choosing process will be narrowing down your options as every property will be your favorite. Another benefit to waiting until the last minute is that even this process will be somewhat easier as there obviously won’t be as many properties available at short notice!
No FOMO Here
Fear of missing out (FOMO) can be a thing to many people, and if this were a trip to New York, you might have to worry that you would miss out on the newest shows, as they are often sold out for weeks at a time, but in Telluride, there will be no FOMO. The slopes will be open during the season, the restaurants may offer longer lines during the winter, but you won’t go hungry during your wait, just order a drink, and relax, and summer visitors can expect to go about their vacationing business as if they had been planning this trip forever. We have listed a few of the activities you can enjoy below in case you hadn’t thought beyond finding a place to sleep!
Historic Sheridan Opera House, 110 N Oak Street
Yes, we know that not everyone enjoys opera, it is definitely an acquired taste, but the Historic Sheridan Opera House is more than just an opera house, it is the epicenter of live entertainment in Telluride. Built in 1913 and known as “the Crown Jewel of Telluride,” this beautiful building hosts local festivals (Telluride Plein Air and Telluride Film Festival, for example) is the site of magic shows, community events, and philanthropic activities. (The Wild West Fest brings children from Boys & Girls Clubs from all over the nation to our doorstep, offering a week of Western fun, mentoring, and so much more.)
Telluride Arts District
The most beautiful places in the world attract the most talented artists and Telluride is no exception. Maybe it is the stunning landscape that changes with every season or maybe it is the friendliness of the people who live here, but artists love us, and the Telluride Arts District is where you can find a celebration of their works. Anchored by the Transfer Warehouse, a building that has stood in its spot for over 100 years and is in the process of being transformed into an arts center, every day can be a new adventure in art. Offering galleries for all the standard genres, paint, pottery, and jewelry to name just a few, some of the more unusual spots include The Disco, a popup hat bar, and Mixx Projects +Atelier, 307 E Colorado Avenue, which bills itself as an arts gallery, lifestyle boutique, and a collaborative space.

Telluride Truffle Artisan Chocolate, 135 E Colorado Avenue
Sometimes the best decisions are the ones made on the spur of the moment, and if your last-minute Colorado vacation decision to enjoy something sweet brings you to Telluride Truffle, we say your instincts are absolutely on point. This small shop brings chocolate making to a new level of exquisite delight and when you fall in love with what you are tasting, (notice that we said when, not if!) their online shop ensures that you will never have to go without these magical sweets ever again, but for the procrastinators out there we might recommend ordering again before you run out so your cupboard will never be bare.
Take It Outside
The joys found in nature in Telluride are an everyday thing, and most activities will not require much in the way of preplanning, making them the perfect last-minute activity. Next up on our list of all the fun you will have during your Colorado explorations is a tour of the great outdoors, and since this is just a sampling of what to expect, just know that we aren’t including skiing in the list, not because you won’t be able to do it, (unless your visit is in the summer) but because we are offering a tour of the unusual.
Festivals of Fun
An outdoor festival in Telluride is always going to be a good idea and there are at least a few that we recommend you don’t miss, if you can. MountainFilm is a documentary film festival that kicks off the summer season, held on Memorial Day Weekend, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival celebrates all types of music during the summer solstice, and the Telluride Plein Air Festival is perhaps one of our favorites, taking place over July 4th and celebrating the work of the most talented artists in the nation. The summer fun ends with the Telluride Film Festival over Labor Day Weekend and the Telluride Blues & Brews festival which celebrates music, beer, and the beauty of fall, taking place in the middle of September.
Whitewater Rafting with Four Corners Whitewater/Telluride, 223 E Colorado Avenue
The thrill of the water is enhanced when man and raft pit their wits against the rapids of the San Miguel River. Offered only in the months of May and June and recommended for those 10 years of age and older, your adventure lasts about three hours and takes you through some of the most stunning landscape in the state. Honestly, this is an adventure we can never get enough of, and we are a little sad that the season is so short, so it may not be the best thing to do at the last minute, but if you can make a reservation, we KNOW you will enjoy every second.
Telluride Sleighs and Wagons, 220 E Colorado Avenue #217
This next outside adventure can be enjoyed in both the summer and winter months, offering sleigh rides through the snow in the winter months and private dinner wagon rides in the summer. There is nothing more festive than riding across the snow in a one-horse open sleigh, (although this sleigh ride is driven by two horses!) staying warm under blankets and stopping for hot chocolate and s’mores to be enjoyed around a campfire at an authentic sheep camp. In the summer months, the dinner wagon ride involves a delicious meal of Spanish tapas, a welcome cocktail, and delicious desserts with the menu changing every year.
Meals to Remember
Many vacations are judged by the quality of the food being devoured, and your Telluride getaway promises to be amongst the best you have ever experienced. Below, we will discuss our favorite restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but we encourage you to stop in any restaurant you see that catches your attention.
Breakfast at the Butcher & the Baker, 201 E Colorado Avenue
Also serving Sunday brunch, lunch, and dinner, this fantastic restaurant makes us happy no matter what meal we are devouring, but their breakfast burritos are divine, and their baked goods are absolutely heavenly. So good, in fact, that we have been known to enjoy their cupcakes for breakfast in our own homes, and their Cinda Buns Kits are always sitting in our freezer when not baking in our ovens!
Lunch at Smuggler Union Restaurant & Brewery, 225 S Pine Street
Offering a mountain chic décor and an extensive alcohol menu that includes local beers, smooth wines, and the best cocktails in town, you may not want to make any plans for the rest of your day as you sip and savor an authentic taste of Colorado that includes their Southwest Colorado Meat Pies.

Dinner at Cosmopolitan Telluride, 301 W San Juan Avenue
Offering an eclectic menu filled with cosmopolitan delights that include sushi, seafood, steaks, and more, tables topped with white tablecloths and bud vases containing fresh flowers give this restaurant an elevated feel that will be most appreciated during special occasions. Their dessert menu brings us joy with their Warm Wild Maine Blueberry Pie taking starring role in our happy dreams!
