People are often surprised to discover that Telluride is not just a winter vacation destination spot. It is an area that is popular year round, and maybe even more so in the summer months. Offering acres of forest land, meadows of wildflowers and green grass, and rivers that flow merrily through all of the above, your summer adventures will thrill you, especially when you come home to Accommodations in Telluride after each adventure has ended. Offering comfort, luxuries, and all the seasonal amenities you need, our spaces are sure to be the best part of your already-excellent summer experience, with this list of amenities showing you exactly what you should look for in the perfect Telluride summer rental—and of course, we offer them all!
Air Conditioning
Although you may never actually use it, air conditioning is included in many if not all of our summer sanctuaries. Telluride’s temperatures rarely rise above the mid-70s, but there are days when it does get warmer, especially with global warming coming into play. Also, guests from colder states can get too warm, no matter what the temperatures are, and we at Accommodations in Telluride want all our guests to feel comfortable, so of course we offer air conditioning in our spaces.

Wine Refrigerators, Blenders, and Coffee Makers
Those who know these things will always say that staying hydrated is important in the summer months, but we are pretty sure they weren’t referring to the beverages we think are vital to the success of your summer vacation. A glass of wine to toast the sunset is always a good thing, and the wine refrigerators will help keep your bottles chilled to the perfect temperature. And because not all people drink wine, you may be happy to know that wine fridges can be used to keep beer, water, and soda cold as well. The blenders that you find sitting on the stone counters or tucked away in cabinets will enable guests to enjoy a frozen beverage (margaritas are popular in the Southwest) or a delicious smoothy in the mornings. And speaking of morning beverages, an iced coffee in the summer is a treat that will always keep your spirits up and coffee makers or Keurigs will always be on the counters of the kitchen.
Wet or Dry Bars
Ok, a wet or dry bar may not be an essential summer amenity, but it sure adds to the appeal of our vacation experiences, and as you belly up to the bar to order your beverage of choice from the barkeep, you can get comfortable and sip from the proper glass, as there will be all the glassware you need for a night of sipping and savoring (you will just have to provide the alcohol). The wet or dry bar may be where you find the wine refrigerator and blenders we mentioned in the paragraph above, but does it really matter where they are located as long as they exist? We don’t think so either.

Home Theater
Although it doesn’t rain a lot in this part of the world, all the green you see in the trees and in the land doesn’t appear by magic, and there is a chance that a summer storm may send you inside for a night of fun and relaxation, perhaps made even more peaceful by the sound of falling rain. A rainy night or lazy summer day is the perfect time for a good old fashioned movie marathon, and the home theaters in our Telluride retreats offer the best spots to do just that. Furnished with leather recliners with cupholders or cozy sectionals whiling away the hours watching movies that can be old or new may be one of your favorite ways to play during your summer visit to Colorado. But if your summer sanctuary doesn’t come with a home theater, it’s ok; our state of the art televisions found in the living rooms and most bedrooms are large enough to help you feel like part of the action on the screen.
Game Rooms
Entertainment is important, even in your vacation rental, and many of our seasonal rentals may offer game rooms equipped with gaming tables, arcade games, and board games for a little extra fun and excitement. Some properties may only offer a pool, foosball, or ping pong table and some board games, others may feature an arcade game tucked away in a corner somewhere, and who knows? Maybe your choice will offer a video game console that will make your teens and your hubby so very, very happy! No two of our properties are exactly alike, so if there is a summer amenity you read on here that you feel is especially important, be sure to read the listing when you are preparing to book.

Fireplace
Wait, did we just say a fireplace is one of the summer amenities you should be looking for? Why yes, we did, because every vacation deserves to experience a fireside picnic, and how can you have one without a fireplace? Additionally, just as temperatures rarely rise above the mid-70s in the summer months, they can also plummet down into the low 40s or mid-30s. In other words, it can get cold at night, and a roaring fire will keep you cozy while adding romance to your summer journey. Grab an extra blanket to soften the floor, prepare a charcuterie board in our fully equipped kitchens using foods you purchased at our Telluride Farmers Market, held on Oak Street in downtown Telluride on Fridays from 10:30 to 3:30, and prepare for a night of quiet fun and fiery warmth. Some bedrooms may feature their own fireplace, elevating the romance factor while ensuring that you will stay as warm as you want to be.
Let’s Go Outside and Play
You may have noticed that up until now we have stayed focused on the inside of our summer sanctuaries, leading you on a room by room tour of seasonal amenities, some of which you may have thought were no brainers while others may have surprised you. But the inside of the house is only about half of what you should be looking at when it comes to these amenities, and now we invite you to open the door that leads to the back of the house, step outside, and begin the second half of our tour of summer fun!

Large Decks with Plenty of Places to Sit
The views from the decks and patios of our seasonal escapes are going to make you believe in love at first sight, and because you will want to spend as much time outside as you do inside and you deserve to be comfortable while you are, our decks will be large, sometimes multileveled, and furnished with a large number of chairs and outdoor sectionals. Watching the sunset, eating meals, napping, all of these activities can be enjoyed out on our decks, and we can promise that the views you will see from these spots will shine brighter in the summer as the trees are leafy and green and the peaks of the mountain stare back at you, unadorned with their usual white blanket of snow. These are the places where you will watch the sun set at the end of the day and if you are an early riser may be where you watch the sun rise every morning. Peace, beauty, and perhaps the occasional glimpse of a timid doe stepping out of the tree line in search for a bite to eat make these spots your favorite.
Barbecues or Outdoor Kitchens
We’re not sure who invented the summer barbecue, but we do know that it was three Americans who perfected it: George Stephen, from Weber Brothers Metal Works, who invented the charcoal grill; Orin Stafford, an Oregon chemist, who invented the charcoal briquette; and Don McGlaughlin, inventor of the gas grill. Without those three men, we may still have been eating hot dogs roasted on sticks over woodburning fires, and although it can be fun to cook that way, the shiny grills you find resting on our large decks will offer your preferred method for charring meat! Some spaces may offer an entire outdoor kitchen, but the majority of our retreats will stick with the KISS rule (Keep It Simple Silly), featuring grills that your chief griller will thrill to man. Big names like Weber and Viking may be emblazoned on the grill you are using, perhaps eliciting feelings of envy that yours at home is not as high end.

Hot Tubs
Cool days and cold nights make hot tubs a year-round delight, and most of our properties will offer private hot tubs, but if the one you chose did not, chances are you rented a condo, and a community hot tub will be where you sit, soak, and savor. The heat of the water contrasts beautifully with the cool of the air and those bubbling jets? They will hit every sore muscles at just the right angle, helping you heal so you can wake up the next day and find new ways of making them ache! Add a glass of wine and the full moon casting its ethereal glow over the landscape and discover that there is something more romantic than a fireside picnic, and that is a soak in the hot tub on a cool summer’s night.
Firepits or Outdoor Fireplaces
We love that a good fire can be enjoyed at any time of the year, and the firepits or outdoor fireplaces will ensure that as you stay out a little later, talking a little more, you will remain warm and content, extending your outdoor time a little longer. This may be the perfect time to remind you that the local markets are surely going to be stocked with supplies of marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers, enabling you to partake in the most delicious of American inventions, the not so ordinary s’more. Grab a few sticks during your hike through the trees or head to an outdoor outfitters store to buy skewers if you aren’t sure that you like the idea of eating a marshmallow off a stick you picked up off the ground. However you roast your marshmallows, the sweet treats that are the end result will make your taste buds stand up and cheer!

Condo Outdoor Amenities
At this point you may be wondering if you are going to have to sacrifice outdoor fun, simply because you chose a condo over a standalone home, but we are happy to say that won’t be an issue. The amenities in our condo communities are plentiful and will always include hot tubs but may also offer barbecue grills and areas for devouring the meats that you grilled. Some communities may provide firepits as well, used more often during ski season, but available for use in the summer months as well, and some communities may provide something our standalone homes do not: A crystal-clear pool, heated for your swimming comfort, is available in a few of our condo communities. We at Accommodations in Telluride do not believe it should be necessary to sacrifice fun simply because you chose to rent a condo instead of a home, and the summer amenities found in our condo communities prove our point.
