Sawpit Mercantile

Sawpit Mercantile boasts that they serve the state’s best barbeque. They may be right! This store first opened its doors in 1897, offering “mining supplies and gentlemen’s furnishings,” at a time when Sawpit was a stop on the Rio Grande Southern Railroad. Besides barbeque, you can stop at the Sawpit for gas, groceries, and liquor. Enjoy your BBQ out on the back deck, or order take-out or delivery. What more do you need? Served daily til 5 pm, Sawpit’s menu offers the ever-popular Frito Pie and the Pork Gasm, Pulled Pork Burritos, sandwiches, corndogs and hotdogs, ribs, and sides. There’s Brunswick Stew, chili, and an Elk Cheddar Jalapeno Brat too. You can also order one of their specialty plates and get a little of everything.
