A Substantial Elevation Gain
If you are used to sticking closer to sea level during your hikes, the Blue Lakes Trail in Telluride may present something of a surprise as it offers an elevation gain of 2000 feet, taking your eager feet up to a full 12,400 feet in height, offering views that will take your breath away. Accessible from the top of Bridal Veil Falls, (Don’t worry, you won’t have to hike that trail too; there is a parking lot to which you can drive.) you may be tempted to spend a little extra time checking out Bridal Veil Falls, but we assure you, you will not want to skip the Blue Lakes Trail in the process.
The Views Will Amaze at Blue Lakes Trail
As you climb higher, heading up, up, and up past the tree line, you may need a little something to distract you from your heavy breathing, and as always, Mother Nature will come to the rescue. Wander through fields of wildflowers, spreading color and joy in their path, and take some time to explore abandoned buildings and antique equipment that may have been used during Telluride’s mining days. These spots are quite photogenic, and the pictures you will take along this hike will help keep the memories alive in your heart for years to come. The Blue Lakes offer an ideal spot to sit, relax, and contemplate the mysteries of life and their icy blue waters will bring much needed peace to your soul.
